Off-piste skiing in the powder snow of Wyoming, the great Wild West in the Rocky Mountain, America

i

Jackson Hole is a valley in west of Wyoming, named after David Jackson, a mountaineer and beaver hunter who discovered the lake in 1810.  It was the hunting ground of various native Indian tribes and has only recently been settled in the 1870’s, at the time of the creation of Yellowstone Park. The mountains were given their picturesque French names of “Grand Teton“ and “Gros Ventre“ by passing trappers from Quebec and Mississipi.

I

Surrounded by two magnificent national parks, Yellowstone and Grand Teton, you can find elk, wolves, bears and caribous.  The western style village has become the best ski resort of the Rockies, famous for its steep couloirs, top-class off-piste domain and fluffy deep powder.

I

Travelling from the airport in the Grand Teton national park, one crosses the national elk refuge enclosed by spectacular mountains to access the ski resort at 1900m.  The area offers 1300m vertical drops and vast off-piste possibilities : forest, wide steep slopes, couloirs, ski touring, heliski, snowmobile...

i

For competent skiers only ; January and February are particularly recommended for the best powder.

i

Optional heliskiing possible as an extra
